Tickets All Gone For Queen's Stormont Party
Ten thousand free tickets for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee party at Stormont were snapped up within six minutes this morning.
They were available from 9am today (Tuesday June 19), and limited to five per person.
Queen Elizabeth is expected to attend the event in the grounds of Parliament Buildings in east Belfast this Wednesday.
Up to 10,000 more invited guests will join to swell the ranks of those who managed to get their free tickets today.
The invited guests will be from youth organisations, the emergency services, government departments, local councils, health trusts, ex-service associations and education and library boards.
The Northern Ireland Office is working with the Stormont Estate authorities and the PSNI to see whether there is scope for any additional allocation of tickets.
Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly, including the First Minister Peter Robinson and possibly the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, are expected to attend the event.
But Mr McGuinness has said meeting the Queen would be "a big ask" and Sinn Fein has repeatedly said the matter will be decided by its ard comhairle (party executive).
The Queen will also be visiting Enniskillen during her two-day visit.
