Man With 472 Convictions Jailed
A man reported to have 472 criminal convictions has been jailed at a court in L’Derry.
39-year-old Eamon Lynch, from Wesley Street in L’Derry, admitted to charges of road offences in the city in 2010.
Mr Lynch’s solicitor claimed his client has the biggest criminal record in British and Irish judicial history.
Judge Piers Grant said Lynch had the biggest number of convictions ever to come before him.
The father-of-eight's criminal record includes almost 300 driving offences.
Mr Lynch also has previous multiple convictions for burglary, assault, forgery and drugs offences.
He was in court on Wednesday over charges occured when he was seen driving a car near Foyle Park two years ago.
His car struck two other parked vehicles and the owner of one of the cars recognised him.
Mr Lynch was seen running away but was later spotted by police walking across Craigavon Bridge.
The officers approached him and say he threw a set of keys into the River Foyle when he saw them.
Mr Lynch was then arrested and breathalysed. He was twice the legal limit.
At that time, he had been disqualified from driving until 2023.
He was given a 28-month jail sentence and will serve 14 months in custody before being put on licence for the remaining 14 months.

Pharmacist Sentenced For Drug Offences
A 27-year-old pharmacist from Belfast has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service for unlawfully possessing and stealing controlled prescription drugs. Adam Hanna pleaded guilty to charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Theft Act 1969. The offences took place at a North Belfast pharmacy between January and March 2024.

A 26-year-old man who was found guilty of the manslaughter of a policeman in County Donegal has been jailed for a further four months for offences following his escape from prison last week. Martin McDermott, admitted three charges of assaulting police officers, one charge of resisting arrest and causing criminal damage to a set of handcuffs.

The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.
