Shops targeted in separate robberies

Police are appealing for information following two separate robberies in Belfast and Newry last night.

In Belfast, two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered a video shop and threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash.

Both thieves are believed to be in their mid to late teens. The first was approximately 5'6" tall, of thin build and was wearing a black coloured baseball cap and a dark coloured jacket. The second was around 5'4" tall and also wore a dark coloured baseball cap.

The incident happened shortly before 10pm.

At around the same time, a male armed with a machete entered a shop in Kilmorey Street, Newry.

He ordered staff to hand over the contents of the till before making off on foot with a sum of money.

The thief is described as being in his late teens or early twenties, approximately 5'9" tall with a pale complexion. He was wearing a baseball cap, a cream hooded top and blue leggings.

Man assaulted in Co Antrim
Police in Co Antrim are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a young man in Ballycastle in the early hours of Sunday morning. The victim was walking along the Moyle Road at around 1.30am when he was attacked by a teenager who lunged at him. A scuffle ensued before the victim was able to get away with just a minor scratch on his abdomen.

Armed robber strikes five times in County Antrim
Four petrol stations and a shop in County Antrim have been targeted in a spate of robberies on Friday night. The first incident occurred in a shop on the Rashee Road in Ballyclare, when a man armed with a knife confronted a female shop manager and demanded cash. He made off on foot with a sum of money and cigarettes. No one was injured.

Girl Beaten In West Belfast
A 14-year-old girl has been beaten by a man in west Belfast. The attacker punched the girl to the ground close to Dunville Park on the Falls Road. Police said the girl has been walking along the road when she was stopped by the man. He then struck her several times, knocking the teenager to the ground. The man made off when a passer-by intervened.

Investigation Launched After Arson Attack On Van In Co Antrim
Police have launched an investigation following an arson attack on a van in Ballyclare, Co Antrim. The incident occurred in the Douglas Terrace area on Friday, 21 April. It is believed a window was smashed and a petrol bomb was thrown inside the vehicle causing damage to the interior.

Man Attacked In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a man was attacked in Belfast. The incident happened in Blackstaff Square in the city centre between 1am and 4am on Saturday, 03 December. Three men approached the victim and asked him for a lighter. The man was then attacked by one of the males.
