12-year-old boy charged with pensioner mugging
A 12-year-old boy has appeared in court charged in connection with the mugging of a pensioner in west Belfast on Easter Monday.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court today in relation to last week's robbery of a 72-year-old woman who was knocked unconscious and had £20 stolen from her handbag as she left Mass in Poleglass.
The boy made no reply when the charge was read out to him. He was immediately remanded in custody.
The defence solicitor said his client and his parents wanted to express their unequivocal remorse for what had happened and their sympathy to the elderly lady.

Teenager Remanded Over Greengrocer Murder

Extradited man denies murder
A 43-year-old Chinese man who was extradited from Hong Kong in connection with the death of a Chinese woman has denied murder. Wong Sui Ching appeared today at Belfast Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of 29-year-old part-time waitress Ho Mi Ye. She had been found strangled at her home in Isoline Street in east Belfast in June 1998.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the murder of Megan McAlorum on the outskirts of Belfast on Monday 12 April. The 16-year-old victim was found dead on a desolate stretch of land, half a mile from Dunmurry.

The past pupil of Lismore Comprehensive in Craigavon was arrested this morning after allegedly being in possession of a blade outside the premises.
