NI 'Dependent' On Public Spending - Villiers
Theresa Villiers has claimed the Northern Ireland's economy is 'too dependent' on public spending.
The NI Secretary of State made the remark as she addressed politicians and business leaders at Stormont on Thursday.
As part of her speech, Ms Villiers talked about Northern Ireland's employment remaining "too high" and said the private sector would need to be revived.
The Secretary also added that UK government measures being taken to rescue the UK economy would "bear fruit" in Northern Ireland.
Ms Villiers believes reducing corporation tax would be a measure which could stimulate further economic growth. She said she would be urging her cabinet colleagues to resolve the matter.
"The prime minister is continuing to consider the case for devolving the power to set corporation tax to the assembly in order to help attract new investment," she said.
"He will be discussing this, along with other matters, with the first and deputy first minister when he meets them later this month."
Ms Villiers also said the G8 conference in Fermanagh in June at the Lough Erne golf resort should be viewed as an opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland and attract investment.

Villiers Replaces Paterson As NI Secretary
Owen Paterson has left the post of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and will be replaced by former transport minister Theresa Villiers. Ms Villiers, who is the Conservative MP for Chipping Barnet, comes to the position in the first cabinet reshuffle since the coalition government came to power in 2010.
