Nursery teacher guilty of assaulting child
A Co Down woman has been found guilty of two charges of assault on a child at a day care nursery in Bangor.
Nicola Montgomery, from Silverstream Drive in the town, was fined £200 on each of the charges after taping a two-year-old child to a chair at the Bright Beginnings day nursery on the Old Belfast Road.
Her colleague, Julie Anne Massey, of Silverstream Park, was acquitted of a charge which also related to the assault.
Summing up the decision, Magistrate Bonita Boyd said Montgomery knew what she was doing and that her actions were intentional.
The barrister acting for Montgomery said his client maintained her innocence and that she would be appealing the charges.
