Teen Charged Over Belfast Mugging

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy in connection with a mugging in the Tates Avenue area of south Belfast.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 18 February. It is thought money and other personal possessions were taken in the robbery, but that the victim was unharmed.

The teenager is accused of robbery, handling stolen goods and fraud by false representation. He is due to appear at Belfast Youth Court on Monday 9 June.

Police Investigate L'Derry 'Arson'

Police are treating a fire at a vacant business property as arson, it has been reported.

Police received a report of the blaze at the former Charles Hurst premises in the Donnybrewer Road area at about 17:40 on Wednesday.

A male youth was detained and was later released on bail pending further police enquiries.

Homes Evacuated In Lurgan

Residents in Lurgan, County Armagh, have been evacuated from their homes due to a police search in the area linked to a dissident probe.

The PSNI is carrying out the search in the Victoria Street area as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident republican terrorist activity.

There are no further details.

Cash Van Guard Threatened With Knife

A cash van guard has been threatened at knifepoint in Glengormley by thieves carrying out a cash-in-transit robbery.

The attack occurred outside a business at Mallusk Road on Thursday at 10:00.

The guard locked himself in his van as two men, one armed with a knife. approached and attempted to steal a cash box.

The pair then made off empty handed in a silver coloured car that was being driven by another man.

The security guard was not injured in the incident.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Pensioner foils attempted robbery
A pensioner was being treated in hospital today after foiling an attempted robbery in east Belfast. The elderly man suffered an injury to his arm after restraining a man who was attempting to rob a security guard on the Belmont Road at around 10.30am on Thursday. The pensioner was able to restrain the man until police arrived a short time later.

In one of a series of such undercover operations, a policeman dressed as a cash in transit security guard, was instrumental in bringing robbers to justice this week. Two brothers who were part of a four-man armed-gang have been jailed for a total of 11 years.

Security guard robbed by knifepoint
Detectives in north Belfast have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash and transit vehicle earlier today. Police have said that the security guard was making a delivery to premises on York Road, close to the junction with Midland close, just before 10.30am, when he was approached by a man armed with a knife.

Police appeal for information following armed robbery in Newtownabbey
Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following an armed robbery in the town earlier this afternoon. Just before midday, a man brandishing a knife approached a cash delivery guard on the Farmley Road and demanded that he hand over a cash box.
