Money Stolen During Distraction Burglary In North Belfast
A pensioner has had a sum of money stolen during a distraction burglary in north Belfast.
The incident happened at a house in Sydney Street West just after 10.30am on Saturday.
A man told the 84-year-old resident that he had been sent to do some work on his back garden and he appeared to check the drains.
However, when he went back into the house he made off suddenly.
The resident checked his property and discovered a sum of money had gone missing.
Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "At this time we believe that a second person had entered the home and rifled through the downstairs while the householder was distracted by the first male.
"We are appealing for the public's help in identifying these criminals. If you were in the area of Sydney Street West on Saturday morning and saw two suspicious men or anything else that could help us, please call Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime on 101."
