Man Arrested Over East Belfast Robbery

A man is to appear in court today, 18 January, charged on suspicion of robbery in east Belfast.

The incident happened at the Co-op on the Beersbridge Road at around 7.45am on Saturday.

The man, armed with a knife, entered the store and threatened staff members. He also demanded cash from the till.

However, staff members apprehended the suspect and held him until the police arrived.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
