Two Men Charged Over Street Fight In West Belfast

Two men have been charged in connection with a street fight in west Belfast.

The incident happened in the Andersonstown Road area just after 6pm.

The suspects, aged 38 and 42, are to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court later today, 16 March, charged with a number of offences including grevious bodily harm with intent, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Three men required hospital treatment.

All charges are to be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PS).

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Officer injured in hammer assault
A police officer has been injured after being struck with a hammer in Co Armagh at the weekend. The incident occurred after officers were called to the Thomas Street area of Portadown on Sunday after a Portuguese man reported damage to his car. When officers arrived they saw a man being assaulted in a separate incident nearby.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

Two charged as arms haul uncovered in west Belfast
Two men have been charged by police after an arms haul was uncovered in west Belfast. The discovery, which is being linked to the Continuity IRA, saw three vehicles, an AK47 assault rifle and five real and replica handguns seized by police following eight house searches over the past few days.
