Queen's Comes Out On Top For Intellectual Property Commercialisation
Queen's University in Belfast has topped the leader board in the UK for intellectual property commercialisation, according to a new survey.
The latest Higher Education-Business and Community Interaction Survey 2014-15 (HE-CIS) placed Queen's first, ahead of the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the Institute of Cancer Research and Imperial College London, based on total IP revenues.
The annual survey captures a broad range of knowledge exchange metrics including engagement with businesses and the revenues that are generated through the wide range of interactions universities undertake with organisations.
Director of Research and Enterprise at Queen's University Belfast, Scott Rutherford, said: "Queen's has a track record of strong performance in knowledge exchange activities which have proven and substantial economic benefits. These results show that based on total IP revenues originating from Queen's spin-outs and licensing activities, the University is considered as a leading institution in turning business ideas into wealth."
