New Fanzone Site Confirmed
The new Fanzone site for Northern Ireland and Ireland supporters to watch the next Euro 2016 matches over the weekend is to be hosted at the Boucher Road playing fields in south Belfast.
Belsonic gigs were already scheduled to take place at the current Fanzone site at Titanic Quarter, however Belfast City Council (BCC) confirmed the new site will be on the Boucher Road.
BCC tweeted: "Boucher Rd PF will host a fanzone for both NI and ROI's next #EURO2016 matches this Sat/Sun. More details to follow tomorrow."
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Brian Kingston, said: "The Fanzone at Titanic Quarter, operated by the organisers of the Belsonic festival, was a terrific success during the qualifying round. However, as it was known that the Titanic site would not be available past the qualifying rounds, the Council was working behind the scenes to identify a suitable alternative site.
"Boucher Road is a great site, accessible to all parts of the city, and beyond. By locating the Fanzone here, the Council is ensuring as many fans as possible get the chance to continue to demonstrate their phenomenal support for both teams as they enter this crucial knock-out stage."
Northern Ireland are to play against Wales at 5pm on Saturday, 25 June.
Ireland will play France in Lyon at 2pm on Sunday, 26 June.
