Police appeal as Derry man receives serious head injuries
Police in Londonderry are appealing for information after a man was left with serious head injuries following an attack in the city yesterday morning.
Two assailants attacked the man in Sackville Street shortly after 2.30am on Tuesday morning. In what police are describing as a "brutal attack, the men then proceeded to jump on their victim's head as he lay on the ground.
The man is seriously ill and has not yet recovered consciousness in hospital following the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

James McMahon, 21, was attacked by three masked men in Lisburn at around 10.30pm on Thursday. The victim suffered serious head injuries after being beaten with baseball bats during the assault at Hancock Street in the city centre.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured during an assault in north Belfast on Tuesday. The man, who suffered serious wounds to the head, was found at a house in Kinnard Street off the Antrim Road at around 4am.

A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
