Algerian man denies charges over terrorist links

An Algerian national, Abbas Boutrab, who has denied three charges related to terrorist offences, has been remanded in custody.

Mr Boutrab, 25, was charged with receiving instruction in the use of explosives, possession of items of use to terrorists, and possession of documents of use to terrorists.

Appearing in court in Belfast today, Mr Boutrab pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Algerian man was being held in Maghaberry prison last week, when police investigating suspected links to the al-Qaeda terrorist group arrested him.

Following an application to the court to extend the time allowed for questioning Mr Boutrab, he was subequently charged.

Filipino man appears before court on terrorist charges
A Filipino man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of making funds available to others for the purposes of international terrorism. Jaybe Ofrasio, 30, who lives in Hawthorne Street, Belfast, was arrested by police last week as part of an investigation into international terrorism.

Willie Frazer Arrested For Bail Breach
Prominent loyalist campaigner Willie Frazer has been arrested for breaching his bail conditions. The 52-year-old was arrested on Monday at about 19:30 in the Portadown area. He is expected to appear in court today. Bail conditions were imposed following charges linked to union flag protests earlier in the year.
