Former Football Coach Charged With Sexual Activity with A Child

A former football coach has been remanded in custody accused of sexual activity with a child.

Jim McCafferty, who is originally from North Larnarkshire but lives in Belfast, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday, 08 December.

He is accused of offences alleged to have taken place between 2011 and 2014.

He was remanded in custody amid fears for his safety.

The 70-year-old was a former kitman for Celtic, Hibernian and Falkirk.

He is due to appear in court again in January.

Teen Accused Of Attempting To Murder Mum
A 19-year-old Belfast man has been remanded in custody accused of attempting to kill his mother and another relative. Robert Brown, of Gotha Street, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday charged with stabbing 38-year-old Joanne Brown and Stephen Brown, 21. The attack happened at Hyndford Street off the Beersbridge Road.

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.
