Pensioner death was murder say police
Police have confirmed they are treating the death of a Co Down pensioner last weekend as murder.
Ted O'Hare, 73, was found dead by his three brothers at their farmhouse on the Tullymore Road, in Loughbrickland last Saturday.
It is believed the brothers were confronted by five masked men as they returned home from mass at around 8pm.
The gang assaulted the men before ransacking the house and fleeing. It was then that the brother's found Mr O'Hare's body.
Police said today that they had received preliminary results from a post-mortem examination and that they would be distributing leaflets throughout the area this weekend to try to jog people's memories about the incident.
