Stormont Talks Resume

Talks are to resume to restore the power-sharing Executive at Stormont today, 24 March.

Political parties will meet over the weekend to take part in crisis talks to resolve outstanding issues.

The parties must reach an agreement by Monday, 27 March, or a second election may take place and there is also the prospect of direct rule.

Previously, SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said his party is "ready to do business".

He said: "There have been positive bilateral discussions and good will on all sides to negotiate a settlement that will deliver a return to government but we now need to take things up a gear.

"The SDLP is here with our sleeves rolled up, ready to do business. The public expects no less from any party. It's time that we all got round the same table and started making firmer progress."
