Security Alert In West Belfast Was Elaborate Hoax
A security alert in west Belfast has been declared an elaborate hoax.
A suspicious object was found in the Horn Drive area, near Woodbourne Police Station, at around 8pm on Thursday, 15 June.
Police and Army Technical Officers attended the scene and carried out a controlled explosion, which was found to be an elaborate hoax.
The object has been sent for forensic examination.
Chief Inspector Kellie McMillan said: "Whatever the intention of those who placed this object, it is clear that they wish to instil fear, disrupt the community and attempt to deter the delivery of a policing service to the community.
"Placing this object in an area where children play and families live demonstrates clear carelessness and complete disregard for the local people of West Belfast who are simply trying to go about their day-to-day lives.
"I know residents do not want this kind of disruption on their doorstep and so I would ask anyone who may be able to help the police officers investigating this incident, to please get in touch by calling 101 quoting reference 1134 15/06/17."

Suspicious Object Found In Co Antrim Declared A Hoax
A suspicious object found in Co Antrim has been declared a hoax. The Mill Road in Newtownabbey has been reopened. Elsewhere, a suspicious object discovered on the Lisburn Road in south Belfast was also declared a hoax. The road reopened at around 4.20am on Wednesday, 13 July. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Maghera Security Alert Declared 'Elaborate Hoax'
A security alert in Maghera has been declared an "elaborate hoax". The alert began shortly after 4:35pm on Sunday, 12 November, when it was reported to police that a suspicious object had been found at residential premises in the Sunnyside Drive area. A number of homes in the area were evacuated, as police conducted a public safety operation.

Lurgan Alert Declared 'Hoax'
A security alert in Co Armagh was this afternoon branded a hoax. A police spokeswoman confirmed that a suspicious object discovered this morning was "an elaborate hoax" and the alert is now ended. Earlier, the SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly said schoolgirls in Lurgan reported a suspicious object to her this morning.

A security alert in north Belfast today was an elaborate hoax. Police were alerted after a suspicious object was found at a property on Upper Meadow Street on Monday. Officers from the army bomb squad attended the scene and carried out a controlled explosion on the suspicious object. After tests it was declared an elaborate hoax.
