Jim Vandermeer To Return To Belfast Giants For Third Season
The Belfast Giants have confirmed that defenceman Jim Vandermeer is to return for a third season.
Head Coach Adam Keefe has also appointed Vandermeer as a Player/Assistant Coach for the 2017/18 season, joining Brandon Benedict on the coaching team.
The Canadian has played 482 NHL games in total for the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Phoenix Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks.
Keefe said: "I am excited to bring Jim Vandermeer back to Belfast. I know our fans love his style of play and the size he adds to our blueline.
"Jim brings a lot of NHL experience to our locker room and he will be a great fit for the Player/Assistant Coach role."

Ulster Rugby Name New Head Coach
Ulster Rugby has named Jono Gibbes as its new head coach. The 40-year-old will join the club on a two-year deal this summer. Gibbes, who is a former New Zealand player himself, is currently forwards coach at French side Clermont Auvergne. He previously worked at Leinster Rugby, helping the team to three Heineken Cup victories.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

£20,000 in football game receipts stolen
An estimated £20,000 worth of takings was stolen last night during a Co Antrim Shield football fixture between Glentoran and Linfield at the Oval. County Antrim FA secretary Brian Dummigan and treasurer John Hamilton were robbed as they left the stadium in east Belfast shortly before the final whistle.
