Belfast offers best bargains in run up to Christmas
Belfast is excellent value for bargain hunters this Christmas when compared to other Irish cities.
This is according to the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau (BVCB) who said that price comparisons show that Belfast is better value in many cases for popular Christmas wish list items compared to other cities across Northern Ireland and the Republic.
Commenting on the figures, Gerry Lennon from BVCB said: "This price comparison backs up our promotion of Belfast as an excellent city to shop in.
"Belfast has a great range of shops in a compact city centre and it offers great value too.
“Shopping and short break stays feature strongly in our marketing strategy for 2004, particularly in the Republic of Ireland, through our advertising campaign ‘Belfast-Better Believe it’.
"Christmas is obviously a very busy time for retailers here but we will be promoting the city at home and abroad through 2004 to encourage visitors to spend time here," he added.
Compared with Dublin, Cork and Galway, Belfast is cheaper for DVD's, sports shoes, mobile phones and perfume, the figures revealed.
