Police Chase After Vehicle Makes Off In Belfast

Police on patrol in north Belfast yesterday, Tuesday 02 July, became involved in a car chase when a vehicle made off from them.

Officers from the Auto Crime Team were on patrol in the Clifton Park area when the incident occurred.

The driver fled the vehicle but was later arrested.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Earlier today the Auto Crime Team were on patrol on Clifton Park Avenue when this vehicle decided to make off from them.

"After a short pursuit the vehicle was abandoned on the Shankill Road with the driver now arrested for a number of driving offences."

Officers Injured After Stolen Car Rams Into Patrol Vehicle
Two police officers have been injured after their patrol car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in Co Down. The blue-coloured Toyota had been stolen from a house in Kilkeel and it collided with a police car which was patrolling the area in the early hours of Tuesday, 22 August. The vehicle was found burnt out in Newcastle.

Operation Journal road checks hit law breakers
Around 500 vehicles were stopped during an hour long multi-agency vehicle checkpoint (VCP) in Belfast yesterday. Under the auspices of the Organised Crime Task Force, the operation, codenamed 'Operation Journal', was set up to detect use of illegal fuel and other infringements by road users.
