Police Warning As Drunk Driver Caught
Police in County Tyrone have warned against drink driving and urged the public to report suspicions of the crime after a drunk driver was apprehended in County Tyrone.
A "selfish drunk" made his way through Cookstown and then into Dungannon early on Tuesday morning, 16 July, as many people made their way to work.
Following a tip-off from the public with an accurate vehicle description, registration and direction of travel, local police crews on morning patrols located the car and arrested the driver, shortly after 7am.
Appealing to the public, a PSNI spokesperson later wrote on Facebook: "Crazy that we still have a daily diet of selfish drunks filling our Custody suite.
"We'll repeat what we've said so many times: You drink and drive in MidUlster - we will catch you.
"Drink drivers care for no one but themselves.
"Have the backbone to get up, challenge and stigmatise those who drink and drive. The time you don't could be the time they kill one of your own family."
Details can be passed to police by calling 101, or 999 in the case of an emergency.
