Nora Quoirin's Family Seek More Answers
Nora Quoirin's family have said they are hoping for more answers in relation to the 15-year-old's death.
Nora's unclothed body was discovered on Tuesday, less than two miles from the Malaysian Dusun holiday resort where the family had been staying. A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from internal bleeding caused by hunger and stress.
Described by the family as a vulnerable individual with special educational needs, Nora was missing for nine days before her body was found.
Her heartbroken family met with officials from the Malaysian Government who offered their condolences today, Thursday 16 August. In a statement released after the meeting, the family said: "We had the opportunity to thank them for everything that the Malaysian government, police, search and rescue teams, local people and volunteers have done to help us. Tragically, as we know, this wasn't enough to save Nóra."
Nora's mother is originally from Belfast but the French-Irish couple have lived in London for twenty years. The family said the post-mortem shed a light on some information to help them understand the cause of death, but they are hoping for further details.
"Our beautiful innocent girl died in extremely complex circumstances and we are hoping that soon we will have more answers to our many questions," their statement read. "We are still struggling to understand the events of the last 10 days.
"We would like to thank the Malaysian authorities for their ongoing support and cooperation with international governments and police as the criminal and missing persons investigations continue.
"We will be bringing Nóra home where she will finally be laid to rest, close to her loving families in France and Ireland."
Missing persons charity the Lucie Blackman Trust confirmed that the £10,000 reward, donated by a Belfast-based business and offered by the family in exchange for information, was not paid out.
A book of condolence for Nora is available to sign in Belfast City Hall, during the weekday opening hours of 8.30am-5pm.
