Overnight Security Alert Sparks Anger In Co Antrim
A security alert in Armoy, County Antrim has sparked considerable anger after residents were evacuated from their homes overnight.
A police operation got underway at around 4.50am on Saturday morning, 31 August, following a report of a suspicious device in the Fair Hill Street area.
Residents were evacuated while ATO took the object away for further examination. The incident was later declared a hoax.
SDLP Councillor for the area Margaret Anne McKillop said locals have been left angry at the disruption caused.
"They're right to be angry that they were forced from their homes by those intent on causing disruption and division in our communities," Cllr McKillop said.
"I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward to police."
Detective Inspector Peter McKenna added: "I want to thank the community for their co-operation as we worked to make the scene safe.
"I would appeal to anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact detectives in Coleraine on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 298 of 31/08/19. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Bereaved Families Pay Tribute To Tragic Cookstown Teens
Families of the tree tragic teens who died in a crush at a St Patricks event on Sunday have paid tribute to their lost loved ones. The young victims, 16-year-old Connor Currie, 17-year-old Lauren Bullock and 17-year-old Morgan Barnard, died after the incident at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on Sunday 17 March.

A number of homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious object in Coleraine. The object was found in the Brook Street area today, 05 May. Police are at the scene and the street has been closed. No further details have been released.
