Barry's Amusements To Be Sold
Barry's Amusements in Portrush is to be sold as a going concern, its owners have announced.
The amusement park has been an iconic feature of the North Coast since it first opened in 1926.
Barry's is a family run business owned by the Trufellis, who released a statement on Friday after informing their staff.
They said: "As family operators, we feel we can no longer give the considerable commitment required to effectively manage the business."
The 11 full-time staff have been informed and will be kept in employment throughout the sale process.
The statement continued: "We understand the special place that Barry's holds in the hearts of many Northern Ireland families, but none closer than our own.
"We wish to thank all our customers who have helped sustain Barry's down the years and our full-time and seasonal employees who have been pivotal to the success of the business. We hope your memories of Barry's are happy ones."
The Trufellis said they hope to pass the baton on to someone who will ensure the firm continues to operate and deliver fun for families in years to come.
The attraction was opened after members of two circus families, Evelyn Chipperfield and Francesco Trufelli, met in Ireland and later married.
