Man Arrested Over Jonathan Cairns Murder

Detectives investigating the murder of an 18 year-old in Co L'Derry almost 21 years ago have made an arrest.

Jonathan Cairns was attacked as he made his way home from a night out in his home village of Ballykelly on 25 April 1999.

His body was discovered in Loughermore Forest, about five miles from his home, the next day.

No one has ever been convicted of Jonathan's murder. His family renewed their appeal for information in April 2019 to mark the 20th anniversary of his death.

Police say a 50 year-old man has been arrested.
