Men Jailed For Abduction And Torture Of Kevin Lunney
Three men have been sentenced to a total of 73 years after being found guilty of abducting and torturing Kevin Lunney.
In September 2019, Mr Lunney, 51, Director of Quinn Industrial Holdings (QIH), was kidnapped from outside his home in Fermanagh.
The kidnappers took Mr Lunney to a farm in County Cavan, where he was held for a number of hours. During his ordeal he was kept in a horse box, where he was severely beaten, having his arm broken and being slashed in the face and chest with Stanley knife. During the ordeal, the initials QIH were carved into his chest. The kidnappers demanded that Mr Lunney resign from his position at Quinn Industrial Holdings.
Mr Lunney was later doused in bleach before being dumped by the side of the road.
Three men, found guilty of the abduction and torture of Mr Lunney, were sentenced at a sitting of a non-jury Special Criminal Court in Dublin.
One of the men, known only at 'YZ', was sentenced to 30 years. Another man was sentenced to 25 years. A third man was sentenced to 18 years, with the last three suspended.
It is believed that Mr Lunney was attacked in an attempted to remove him from QIH, which would have made a position open to unidentified "others".
