Politicians express concern at sectarian leaflets
Local politicians have expressed concern following the circulation of sectarian leaflets in south Belfast.
The leaflets carry anti-catholic sentiments and have been delivered to homes in the predominantly loyalist Village area. They call for Catholics to be put out of the area.
Ulster Unionist councillor and former Lord Mayor of Belfast, Bob Stoker said he had not seen the leaflet.
"I was in Sandy Row on Saturday night and I was there again yesterday and no-one is able to show me a copy of this leaflet. I would like to see it first of all," he added.
SDLP councillor Pat McCarthy said he and Mr Stoker had met local people and police last year in an effort to deal with such threats as well as sectarian slogans on walls.
"After our meeting with the residents last year, it was agreed that the sectarian slogans in the area be painted out. When workmen came to paint it out, they were attacked and had their van burnt.
"I don't think individuals were responsible for that - I believe there was some degree of paramilitary involvement," he said.
Police have confirmed that they would be investigating the origin of the leaflets.

Funeral for murdered pensioner takes place
The funeral for murdered pensioner Ted O'Hare who was found dead at his Co Down home last weekend has taken place today. The 73-year-old's body was discovered by his three brothers at their farmhouse on the Tullymore Road, in Loughbrickland last Saturday. Police have confirmed they are treating the death of Mr O'Hare as murder.

Ted O'Hare, 73, was found dead by his three brothers at their farmhouse on the Tullymore Road, in Loughbrickland last Saturday. Police Investigate Shooting Incident In L'Derry
Detectives are appealing for information after a young man was shot in the Creggan area on Wednesday night, November 27th. Shortly after 10:10 PM, police received a report that the man, in his late teens, had been shot in the leg. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
