Woman Arrested In DCI Caldwell Attempted Murder Investigation

A 34-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell on 22nd February in the Killyclogher Road area of Omagh.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting offenders following the search of a property in the Omagh area and has been taken to Omagh Custody Suite for further questioning.

She is the 11th person to be arrested by the Major Investigation Team as part of the investigation.

A 45-year-old man arrested in the Belfast area under the Terrorism Act on Tuesday 14 March, remains in custody at this time.

Nine other men – aged 72, 57, 47, 45, 43, 38, 33, 25 & 22 – also arrested in connection with the attempted murder have been released following questioning.

Major Investigation Team detectives continue to ask for the public's help and would appeal to witnesses or those with information to get in touch by calling 101.

Detectives are also highlighting a reward of up to £150,000 from Crimestoppers, who are a charity and independent of the police. The reward is offered for information given directly to Crimestoppers that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for John's attempted murder. Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Woman Arrested Over Attempted Murder Of Police Officers Released
A 20-year-old woman arrested in connection with the attempted murder of police officers in west Belfast in 2015 has been released unconditionally. Up to eight shots were fired at a parked PSNI car in the Rossnareen Avenue area in Andersonstown on 26 November.

Woman Arrested Over Prison Officer Attack Released
A 35-year-old woman arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a prison officer has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS). A bomb went off under the van of a prison officer in east Belfast last Friday, 04 March. He is believed to be in a stable condition.

Woman Arrested Over Attempted Murder Of Police Officers
A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in connection the the attempted murder of police officers in 2015. Up to eight shots were fired at a parked police vehicle in Rossnareen Avenue in west Belfast on 26 November. Two male officers who were in the car at the time were not injured, however they were left badly shaken.

Attempted Murder Investigation Launched Following Pipe Bomb Find
Police have launched an attempted murder investigation following the discovery of a pipe bomb in north Belfast on Tuesday, 09 August. The "viable device" was found in the North Queen Street area. Police believe it was most likely thrown at a passing PSNI vehicle the night before.
