Jeffrey Donaldson To Face Trial Over Historical Sex Offence Allegations
Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson is set to stand trial for 18 historical sex offences, including one charge of rape.
Donaldson and his wife Eleanor appeared at Newry Magistrates' Court today, 03 July.
The charges against Donaldson include 13 counts of indecent assault on a female child and four counts of gross indecency toward a child.
Eleanor faces five charges, including aiding and abetting rape.
They will appear at Newry Crown Court on 10 September for an arraignment hearing ahead of their trial.
The charges allegedly took place between 1985 and 2008.
Donaldson has previously indicated that he will contest the charges against him.

The DUP have backed a campaign to bestow the late Queen with the name Elizabeth The Faithful. According to reports, Queen Elizabeth had been referred to as Elizabeth the Great since her passing, but after Security Minister Tom Tugendhat called her Elizabeth The Faithful, a campaign has grown to support this becoming her official, posthumous title.

DUP MP Praises Police Following Westminster Attack
DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson said police were "excellent" following an attack close to the Houses of Parliament in London. Shots were reportedly fired outside the building on Wednesday afternoon, 22 March. The Lagan Valley MLA tweeted: "Walking into Parliament when attack occurred. Police excellent. Got us onto ground then led to safety.

There has been a broad welcome at Stormont for a new report on the way asylum seekers are being treated. Junior Ministers Gerry Kelly and Jeffrey Donaldson yesterday praised the work of a Commission which is "seeking to restore public confidence" in the UK asylum system.
