Man injured in weekend attack
A man has been injured during an attack at a house in Carrickfergus at the weekend.
The 24-year-old was in a house in Thomas Street at around 7.30pm on Saturday when a gang of men barged their way through the front door following a row over a Celtic football poster.
The victim suffered a broken nose and cheekbone, cuts to the face and bruising after being beaten with numerous household appliances, including videos and chairs, during the attack.
Two children, aged one and two, were sleeping in an upstairs bedroom at the time but were uninjured in the attack. Eight other family members and friends had to flee the house during the incident but were also unharmed.
Elsewhere, four people have been questioned by police

The incident, which took place in Queen Street at around 12.50pm, has left the victim hospitalised with serious injuries.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact on 028 7963 3701.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".
