Five people released in death probe

Five people have been released by police after being questioned in connection with the death of a man in north Belfast at the weekend.

Stephen Montgomery, 34, from Mountainview Drive, was found injured at about 3am on Sunday at Jamaica Road but died a short time later in hospital.

Three men and two women were initially questioned with regard to the death but have since been released.

Following results of a post-mortem examination, police say Mr Montgomery may have been hit by a car and are anxious to trace the vehicle, which they believe would have been damaged.

Anyone with information regarding the incident are asked to contact Tennent Street on 028 9065 0222, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
