Man remanded in custody on murder charge
A Co Down man has been remanded in custody today after being charged with murder.
James Joseph McEvoy, 26, from Rathmore Road in Newry appeared at Armagh Magistrate's Court on Tuesday accused of shooting Johnny Graham as he parked his car at a house in the nationalist Ardcarne Park area of Newry at about 1am last Thursday. The 20-year-old victim died in hospital a short time later.
A detective told the court that the defendant replied: "Definitely not guilty" when he was charged.
He was remanded in custody until May 18.
