Families escape injury in separate loyalist attacks
Police are blaming loyalists for two separate attacks in Co Antrim overnight in which two families narrowly escaped injury.
In the first incident, a family of four escaped injury in a gun attack on their home in Newtownabbey.
Ten shots were fired at the property in Station Road at around 11pm on Tuesday.
Two adults and two children were at home at the time when the shots were fired. Some of the shots hit the front of the house while a number of bullets went through a window.
In the second attack, a woman and her two children escaped injury in a petrol bomb attack at their home in north Belfast.
The device was thrown at the property in the Silverstream area hitting a window. No one was injured in the attack that occured at around 3.30am.
At around the same time, a further three petrol bombs were thrown at another house nearby, however only one ignited causing scorch damage to the front door.
These latest attacks come as an ongoing feud between the UVF and LVF intensifies. On Sunday, extensive damage was caused to a taxi depot, and two other properties, on the Ballysillan Road following an arson attack. Detectives said they believe ongoing trouble between the UVF and LVF sparked the incident.

A woman and her son have escaped injury following a shooting attack in Co Armagh. Shots were fired at a property in the Cloghoge Road area of Cullyhanna on Wednesday, 21 February. Windows were broken in the living room, kitchen and sitting room areas. The woman and child were inside the property at the time of the attack.

A woman and child have escaped injury after a gang of armed men attacked their home in east Belfast. The attack happened at a house in Fashoda Street at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 14 February. The men, armed with hammers, smashed a number of windows at the property. A mother and her daughter were not injured, the PSNI have confirmed.
