Pipe bomb found in Ballymena

The remains of a crude pipe bomb type device have been discovered outside a house in Co Antrim on Monday.

Army technical officers were tasked to examine a suspicious object found outside the property in the Dunvale area of the Dunclug Estate in Ballymena at around 9:15pm.

Minor damage was caused to the front property however there were no reports of any injuries. A number of items were removed for further examination.

It is believed two people were seen running towards the Cushendall Road on the Black Path at around the time of the incident. Police in Ballymena are appealing for information about the incident.

Elsewhere, police have declared an object found in the Fahan Street area of Londonderry on Monday as an elaborate hoax.

The suspicious object was discovered shortly before 6pm however following a controlled explosion it was declared a hoax.

Police cordons in the area came under sporadic attack from youths throwing stones, bottles, paint bombs and other missiles. Upwards of ten petrol bombs were also thrown.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Security Alert Ends In West Belfast
A security alert in west Belfast has ended after nothing untoward was found. Army bomb experts were called to St Mary's Gardens in the Beechmount area around 9.30pm on Thursday night to examine a car. Some 100 homes were evacuated during the alert, with residents being moved to a nearby community centre.

Houses damaged in separate petrol bomb attacks
Two houses have been attacked in separate petrol bomb attacks in Belfast and Downpatrick. In north Belfast, a device was thrown through a glass pane in the front door of a house on the Crumlin Road at around 11pm last night. In Downpatrick, a house in the Mount Crescent area suffered scorch damage in the early hours of Friday morning.

School Evacuated During Security Alert In Co Antrim
A school has been evacuated during a security alert in Co Antrim. A suspicious object was discovered in the Cambridge Avenue area of Ballymena today, 14 April. Police and army bomb experts are currently at the scene. It is believed pupils from Cambridge House Grammar School have been evacuated. This is the third alert in the past two months.
