Police appeal following spate of armed robberies

Detectives in Lisburn and West Belfast have appealed for information in connection with three armed robberies.

At around 6.30pm yesterday evening, three men, armed with a hammer and a long bladed knife, entered a convenience store on the Stewartstown Road in Belfast, and stole a lottery machine, a till and a cash register.

A short time later, what is believed to be the same gang, again armed with a hammer and a knife, robbed a store on Main Street, Glenavy at around 7pm, taking a sum of money.

Police believe that the same men also carried out a robbery on an off-licence on the Glenavy Road at around 8pm on Wednesday.

The robbers are thought to have used a silver coloured car to escape in each incident.

A car, fitting the description of the one used by the robbers was found in the car park of the Ballymac Hotel, just outside Lisburn, at around 7.30pm last night.

No one was injured in any of the incidents; however, staff were in left shaken by their ordeal.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
