Lagan Technologies serves 10m UK citizens
Belfast-based Lagan Technologies, a provider of customer relationship technology and services to local government and public sector organisations, has announced that the 10 millionth UK citizen is now being served by its technology.
Lagan’s 'Frontline' citizen relationship management (CRM) system is designed to improve the way citizens interact with council departments and public bodies by easing access to essential services and enhancing service efficiencies.
“Lagan topped the 10 million mark when Frontline was selected by Coventry City Council, where in partnership with Serco, the initial solution was deployed in less than two months,” said Philip Murray, Executive Director at Lagan.
Mr Murray said that Lagan had delivered the Frontline solution in 70 authorities, and is in the implementation process with a large number of others.
"By continuing to help Councils deliver better customer service at lower cost, we are confident that we will add significantly to the number of citizens served by Frontline in the future. Our aim is to reach 15 million in the next six months,” added Mr Murray.
Lagan’s Frontline relationship management model provides a single, 360 degree view of every individual citizen’s contact history. Multiple enquires can be handled via a single point of contact with rapid access to existing back-office systems and a full view of the citizen’s previous enquiries and their status. This has resulted in a number of councils reporting a dramatic improvement in the volume of calls resolved at first point of contact, and means people can access services in the way they prefer at the time they choose.
Lagan customers have won numerous awards for improving service to citizens by implementing the Frontline solution. Awards include the Cabinet Office Charter Mark, the British Computer Society Awards, the Good Communications Award and the Association of Public Service Excellence Award.
One of the fastest growing IT companies in Ireland, in the Deloitte Fast 50 for the last five years, Lagan has been listed in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 Awards.
Lagan has recently launched in the US public sector market and has already won several contracts.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

Searches Continue Following Reports Of Man Falling Into River Lagan
A search operation is underway along the River Lagan at Belfast Harbour following reports that a man fell into the water on Thursday morning. Emergency services responded to reports of concern for a man's safety who had been seen close to Lagan Weir at about 10am on 01 March.

Man Rescued From River Lagan
A man has been rescued from the River Lagan in Belfast. At around 1.20pm on Friday, emergency services were called to the scene close to the Ormeau Bridge. It was reported a man had fallen into the river but when emergency services reached the scene the man had already been pulled to safety. He has been taken to hospital.

Lisburn Maternity Care 'Reprieved'
Fears over the future of a Co Antrim maternity facility are receeding this week. The NI Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, yesterday announced that maternity services will - after all - be retained at Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn. The intention is to establish a Community Midwifery Unit at the Hospital - with a planned launch date of 2010.
