Teenager still being held over school stabbing
A 13-year-old boy is still being questioned by police in connection with the stabbing of another teenager yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to Ballymoney High School in County Antrim following reports of an incident involving two pupils.
When they arrived they discovered a 13-year-old boy with a single stab wound to his chest.
He was taken to the Causeway Area Hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening. His condition has been described as stable.
Another 13-year-old boy was arrested by police, and is still being held for questioning.
Yesterday a spokesman for Ballymoney High School said that everyone connected with the school was “surprised and saddened” by the incident and added that the school would be investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
DUP assembly member Ian Paisley Junior said that he was appalled by the stabbing and called for action to be taken in order to combat knife crime in the province.
