Attempted abduction in Londonderry

Police in Londonderry have appealed for witnesses after an attempted abduction in the city at the weekend.

It is understood that a man and a woman stopped their car beside the 10-year-old girl, who was playing in the Rathkeele Way in the Creggan area on Sunday evening, and tried to entice her into the vehicle.

The child refused to get in to the vehicle and ran home to raise the alarm.

Detectives in Londonderry have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen a black car loitering in the area between 5pm and 6pm on Sunday June 4, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously via the Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
