Four rescued from blazing motorcruiser
Three adults and a child have been rescued from a blazing motorcruiser on Lough Erne, County Fermanagh.
Coastguard were called to Upper Lough at Carrybridge, after receiving reports of a fire on a boat shortly after 8pm last night.
The lifeboat and a fire crew from Lisnaskea were sent to tend to the fire, and those on the motorcruiser were rescued from the vessel by a helicopter rescue team dispatched from Sligo.
No one was injured during the incident.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard today said that the occupants were all quite shaken and ready to abandon the vessel because of the fire.
He said: "They were all wearing their life jackets and were in mobile phone contact with the police and ourselves."
He added that the Coastguard were alerted to the incident by the PSNI in Enniskillen, who asked them to co-ordinate the rescue.

Woman escapes injury as car plunges onto lough shore
A woman has escaped serious injury after her car plunged onto the shores of Carlingford Lough in Co Down on Thursday. The woman was travelling towards Warrenpoint at around 7.50pm when she was forced to swerve to avoid a horse and cart. The resulting swerve saw her car leave the road, overturn and land on its roof on the shore of the Lough.

17 Rescued From Lough Neagh
17 people have been rescued from Lough Neagh after their canoes came into difficulty while on the water. Two adults and a group of young people, some of whom were as young as 14, were rescued on Wednesday evening. An alert was raised near Ardboe in County Tyrone. Lifeboats, an ambulance and a police helicopter attended the scene.

THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

Man Critical After Falling Over 30ft Into A Cave In Co Antrim
A man has been seriously injured after he fell over 30 feet into a cave near Dunluce Castle in Co Antrim. The incident happened at around 4.45pm on Sunday, 24 July. A spokesperson for the Coastguard said an inshore lifeboat rescued him. He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he remains in a critical condition.
