Man remanded over murder charge
A 22-year-old Latvian man has appeared in Belfast Magistrates Court charged with the murder of a man at a house in south Belfast last week.
Kaspars Valters, of no fixed address, spoke through an interpretor only to confirm that he understood the charges.
He was remanded in custody to reappear before the court via videolink on October 9.
A second man arrested in connection with the murder has been released pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service, while four others have since been released without charge.
James McDonald, 56, from Dumfries, Scotland, was found dead at a house in Penrose Street off the Ormeau Road last Wednesday.
Mr McDonald was identified on Saturday, after police investigating his murder released a computerised image in the hope that someone would recognise him.

Man released without charge in connection with murder
Police have confirmed that a man arrested in Belfast yesterday in connection with the murder of County Antrim car dealer Ronald Todd, has been released without charge. The man is the third person to be arrested then released in relation to the murder inquiry.

Simon Tang: Second Murder Charge Withdrawn
A second murder charge over the killing of Chinese restaurateur Simon Tang in 1996 has been withdrawn. Belfast Magistrates' Court has heard the case against Paul Allen will not proceed. Mr Allen, 39, of Drumhoy Drive, Carrickfergus, faced charges over the murder of Simon Tang. Mr Tang was a married father of two.

Andrew Allen Murder - Man Released Without Charge
Gardaí have released a man without charge after arresting him in connection with the murder of a man from L'Derry. The man in his 40s was released on Thursday evening. Father of two Andrew Allen was shot dead on 9 February 2012 at his house at Links View Parka house near Buncrana, County Donegal.
