Pensioner robbed in north Belfast home
Police in north Belfast have appealed for information following a distraction burglary at the home of a 90-year-old woman yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 1pm, when a woman called to the pensioner's home in the Huss Row area of city, claiming to be on a home visit from a local chemist.
The robber entered the house and distracted the woman, before making off with her pension book and a sum of cash.
The pensioner was not injured during the incident, however was left badly shaken by her ordeal.
The thief is described as being aged in her 40s, around 5'3 in height, and with short blonde hair.
Police have warned the public, especially the elderly, to be wary of unexpected callers and to always ask for identification from anyone who may call to their door.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who noticed a woman fitting this description in the area around the time of the robbery, are asked to contact detectives on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
