Guard injured during armed robbery
Detectives in County Down have appealed for information following an armed robbery at a Post Office yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened shortly after 3pm, when a security guard from a cash in transit van, was approached and threatened by a man.
The robber then stabbed the guard in the hand, before making off with an empty cash box.
The assailant is described as being aged in his early 20s, around 5'7 in height and of thin build. He was wearing a dark blue or black waist length coat with a grey fur, which he had pulled around his face. He was also wearing large black sun glasses, blue jeans and white coloured trainers.
Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or who may have any information on the person responsible for carrying it out, to contact police in Downpatrick on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police in Newtownabbey have appealed for information following an armed robbery in the town earlier this afternoon. Just before midday, a man brandishing a knife approached a cash delivery guard on the Farmley Road and demanded that he hand over a cash box.

Newry Cash Delivery Targeted By Robbers
An ATM cash delivery has been targeted by robbers. A security guard, thought to be from G4Securicor, based in Mallusk, has been hit on the head during the robbery in Newry, Co Down. It happened just after 7.

Pensioner Shocked In Attack
Robbers have been going for the soft option, by attacking a pensioner in her 80s. The victim has been left shocked following the incident at her south Belfast home. Meanwhile, a man has been jailed for what was described a botched 'spur of the moment' cash delivery robbery in which he used his wife's own car to escape.

Guard hit by car during Belfast robbery
Police in south Belfast have appealed for information after a security guard was hit by a car during a robbery in the early hours of this morning. One of the security team was delivering a armoured box containing a substantial sum of cash to a bank on the Dublin Road area at around 5.30am, when he was struck from behind by a car.
