Guns and ammunition stolen in south Belast

A quantity of guns and ammunition have been stolen during an armed robbery at a property in south Belfast yesterday evening.

The incident happened at around 9pm, when four men – two of whom were armed, one with an iron bar and the other with a hammer, broke into a house in the Balfour Avenue area of the city.

The thieves threatened the home-owner, who was asleep on the sofa at the time, before making off with two guns, an air rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and 20 shotgun cartridges.

Two of the men are described as being around 5' 7" in height, and of slim build. All four of the men were wearing dark clothing, hoods or baseball caps, and scarves covering their faces.

Detectives investigating the robbery have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have any information in connection with it, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Four Arrested Following Disorder In South Belfast
Four men have been arrested following public disorder incidents in the university area of south Belfast on Thursday, November 14th. Police responded to a number of offences, including resisting and obstructing police, and assault on police. Three men, aged 18, 20, and 21, have been charged and are due to appear in court in December.

Guns stolen in County Tyrone
Police in County Tyrone have appealed for information following the robbery of a gun cabinet and ammunition in the early hours of yesterday morning. The incident happened shortly after 5am, when five males broke into a house in the Eglish Road area of Dungannon and tied up the 16-year-old occupant with telephone cable.

Investigation Launched Following Attempted Robbery In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after employees at a takeaway restaurant in Belfast were threatened with a hammer. The incident happened at premises on the Shankill Road shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, 07 March. A number of masked men armed with a hammer threatened staff and demanded them to open the till.

Four Men Jailed After Guns And Ammo Discovery
Four men described as "dissident republicans" have been sentenced to a total of 36 years following a police stop-and-search in County Tyrone three years ago. Detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch have welcomed the sentences imposed on the four men, who were caught with guns and ammunition on the Gorticashel Road in Omagh.

Police Hunt Gunman After Shot Fired
Police are hunting an armed man who fired a shot at a motorist over the weekend. The incident happened in the Pansy Street area of east Belfast at 1.20am on Saturday. The victim was approached by an armed male who fired one shot at him. The shot missed and the suspect fled the scene. The PSNI have appealed for information.
