Union officials meet over east Belfast job cuts
Shop stewards and union officials have met today following the news that just under 300 workers are to lose their jobs in east Belfast.
Staff at seatbelt manufacturers TK-ECC Limited where told on Friday that jobs were likely to go following to a downturn in the car industry.
Of the 298 jobs going, around 200 will be temporary agency employees with the rest being made up of full-time staff and maintenance workers.
Agency staff have been told their contracts will end in March with the remaining full-time staff contracts being terminated by August.
The factory, which makes seat belts for a range of car manufacturers, including Toyota, Honda and Vauxhall, employs more than 800 workers at its plant in Dundonald.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.
