Belfast poker ace wins £450,000
A north Belfast man is celebrating a 650,000 euro (£450,000) win following a four-day poker competition in Dublin.
But Marty Smyth, a professional poker player, told the 'Belfast Telegraph' that he was not going on a spending spree despite the sizeable win at the Paddypower.com Irish Open on Sunday.
Marty beat off hands from 707 other entrants to push back with the final winning hand and scoop the 650,000 euro jackpot in the 2007 competition.
He said he “just had a little bit more luck than the others.”
RTE will screen the Paddypower.com Irish Open 2007 later this month on Two.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
