DUP assembly member dies
DUP Assembly member, George Dawson has died after a short illness.
Mr Dawson, 45, died at home yesterday surrounded by his family members.
The East Antrim MLA, who had been tipped as a future minister and his party leader, DUP leader Ian Paisley said he would be sorely missed.
"It is with immense sadness that I learned of the passing of our esteemed friend and colleague," he said. "As member of the assembly for East Antrim, he worked tirelessly for his constituents, reaching out across his many spheres in the best interests of the people of Northern Ireland," he continued.
"His contribution to the business life of the province marked him out as a real ambassador."
Mr Dawson leaves a wife and two children.

Banbridge DUP member quits over power-sharing
A seventh Democratic Unionist Councillor has resigned over the party's decision to enter a power-sharing government with Sinn Fein. Banbridge Councillor Stephen Herron said he was saddened at having to make the decision, but he was unable to support the the deal.

A founding member of the Democratic Unionist Party has resigned following the party’s decision to share power with Sinn Fein. Roy Gillespie is the third member to resign in recent weeks. Confirmation that Mr Gillespie and his wife Ruby were leaving the party was provided in a letter sent to Ian Paisley Jr.

Wilson Caught Phoning While Driving
Finance minister Sammy Wilson has been fined £200 for driving while using a hand-held telephone. On April 30 this year, a court heard, Mr Wilson was spotted by a policeman holding a mobile phone up to his right ear as he drove on High Street, Newtownards. Officers stopped Mr Wilson, who admitted using the mobile but said it was on speakerphone.
