Man arrested following stabbing incident

A man has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Belfast in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident took place at Cromwell Road, off Botanic Avenue, as a number of men got into a car at around 2am following a Christmas function in the area.

Four men were subsequently taken to hospital, with one man in a serious condition after being stabbed in the back three times.

In a separate incident shortly afterwards, two men were seriously assaulted outside a bar at the junction of Waring Street and Bridge Street.

The two individuals were confronted by a number of men who pulled up in cars at about 3am.

While one of the men escaped, despite being struck on the head with a bottle, the other suffered serious facial injuries and is still being treated in hospital.

Shop Worker Attacked In L'Derry
Police are appealing for information after a shop worker was attacked and threatened in L'Derry. The incident happened at a shop on the Temple Road in Strathfoyle Village at around 9.30pm on Saturday, 14 July. The worker was hit on the head and threatened at knifepoint. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene.

Pensioners robbed during separate incidents
Police have appealed for information after five pensioners were attacked and robbed in their homes during separate incidents yesterday evening. The first incident happened at around 5pm, when four men broke into the home of a 74-year-old woman in the Tansy Road in Ballinderry, County Antrim.

Body pulled from River Foyle
The body of a 43-year-old man has been pulled from the River Foyle in Londonderry. Although a crime is not suspected, police confirmed that a post mortem of the victim will take place today.

Four Men Arrested Over Explosive Device In West Belfast Released
Four men arrested in connection with an explosive device in west Belfast last year have been released from custody. The device was found in the Pantridge Road area on 30 October. Three men arrested under the Terrorism Act have been released unconditionally.

Investigation Launched Following Attempted Robbery In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after employees at a takeaway restaurant in Belfast were threatened with a hammer. The incident happened at premises on the Shankill Road shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, 07 March. A number of masked men armed with a hammer threatened staff and demanded them to open the till.
