Healy awarded Writers Association accolade
Northern Ireland and Leeds striker David Healy has been named International Personality of the Year at an awards ceremony yesterday.
Healy received the accolade, ahead of Stephen Craigan and Jonny Evans, at the Harp-sponsored Northern Ireland Football Writers Association’s awards ceremony at the Europa Hotel.
The 28-year-old is the record-holder with 27 goals out of 56 matches in his International career.
Meanwhile, Linfield boss David Jeffrey celebrated after being named manager of the year, after leading his side to an Irish league and Cup double.
Veteran Crusaders footballer Jeff Spiers also received a special Merit Award and young player of the year prize went to Celtic-bound striker Mark McAllister, of Dungannon Swifts.

Education Minister Paul Givan has responded to the announcement by several teachers' unions that they plan to ballot their members for industrial action over 2024/25 pay. Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

David Healy Appointed New Linfield Manager
Former Northern Ireland striker David Healy has been appointed the manager of Linfield football club. Healy, 36, has signed a two and a half year contract. Healy will succeed Warren Feeney who resigned to take on the assistant manager's post at Newport County.
