Arrests In City Double Murder Case
Arrests have followed a brutal double murder that shocked Belfast earlier this year.
Two men are being questioned in connection with the murders of the two people in March.
The pair was arrested on Wednesday in the Belfast area and are currently being questioned at a police station in Antrim.
The victimes were Edward Burns (36), from Ardoyne in Belfast, County Antrim, who was found shot dead at Bog Meadows in West Belfast and Joseph Jones (38) from Poleglass on the outskirts of Belfast, who was found later the same day with severe head injuries in an alleyway off Elmfield Street in North Belfast.
Detectives believe that the two murders are linked and were carried out against a background of tensions within dissident republicanism.
At the time, police officers said they received a predominantly positive response from local communities during their investigations.
This resulted in the recovery of four firearms and a man appearing in court, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition in suspicious circumstances.

A 57-year-old man arrested in England by detectives investigating the Belfast murders of Gary Convie and Eamon Fox in May 1994 and of Sean McParland in February the same year has been released. 55-year-old Mr McParland was shot in Skegoniel Avenue in north Belfast on 17 February while babysitting and died a week later.

Two charged over M1 car chase
Two men are to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today in connection with a high-speed car chase in which four police officers were hurt. The incident occurred at 2am on Sunday morning when police pursued a vehicle which had allegedly been stolen in Loughgall, Co Armagh. During the chase four police officers were hurt and two arrests made.

Police make arrests following street violence in North Belfast
Two people were arrested in North Belfast on Monday morning as minor street violence erupted following a weekend of tension. Disturbances in the Arthur Bridge area of the Whitewell Road on February 11 followed reports that fireworks had been thrown from the White City area towards the Longlands housing estate.
